Local Delegates Head to Democratic Convention

The Democrats from Attleboro and Seekonk will be in Springfield to decide whether U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren should get an uncontested ride into the general election.

Attleboro and Seekonk residents will be among the 5,000 delegates gathering in Springfield today for the the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. They will determine the party's endorsement for the U.S. Senate race, which is expected to go to Harvard Law School professor Elizabeth Warren.

If Warren's lone opponent, immigration attorney Marisa DeFranco, can garner the support of at least 15 percent of the delegates, it would force a primary election in September. The winner of the primary would face Sen. Scott Brown in the general election in November.

The Attleboro delegates are Mohammad Khan, Timothy Oneill, Vivian Humphrey, Diane Candee, McKenzie Blair, Mark Mangiaratti, Nancy Driscoll, Stephen Kane, Sandra Clarke, Anne Nakshian, Francis Mello, Paul Morgan, Jeanine Levinson, Andrew Meehan and Matthew Dei.
