Kennedy Comes to Attleboro

Congressional candidate Joseph Kennedy III meets with local business leaders

Joseph Kennedy III made a brief stop in Attleboro Tuesday morning to meet with local business leaders. The Democratic candidate for the 4th Congressional District, which includes Attleboro and Seekonk, said he listened to their concerns during the two-hour session at the  plant.

"There is a lot of uncertainty in the marketplace that is prohibiting businesses from getting the support that they need to be able to grow ... and having the tools that they need to start to hire and get more people into their businesses," Kennedy told the media after the meeting.

He said businesses are helped when regulators work with them to gain compliance, rather than "standing in the way and finding ways to create fines through gotcha regulations."

Kennedy is running for the seat being vacated by 31-year Rep. Barney Frank, although the shape of the district has changed this year due to 2010 Census-based redistricting. His main challenger is expected to be Republican frontrunner Sean Bielat, who finished 11 points behind Frank in the 2010 election, giving the incumbent his toughest challenge since he was first elected.

Regarding the campaign, Kennedy said, "We're out there having fun, traveling around a lot and I get all over across the district. I get a chance to meet with people and talk with folks and have a great time doing it.”
