It's Romney in Attleboro, Seekonk Republican Primaries

Attleboro and Massachusetts residents voted for Mitt Romney in Tuesday's primary.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney, as expected, won the Bay State's GOP presidential primary, according to several media outlets.

Romney posted an easy win in Attleboro with 1,520 votes to 335 to second place finisher Rick Santorum, 335, Ron Paul, 251 and Newt Gingrich, 116, according to the Sun Chronicle. President Barack Obama ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.

In Seekonk, Romney had 412 votes, Santorum, 118, Paul, 98, and Gingrich, 67, according to the Sun Chronicle.

CNN, NBC and the Associated Press are all calling Romney the winner in Massachusetts. His prize: The highest share of the state's 41 delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Massachusetts will allocate delegates on a proportional basis, according to Huffington Post. Candidates with at least 15 percent of the vote get a share of the delegates that roughly matches his percentage of the vote.

Romney voted in Belmont earlier today, where he and his wife Ann are longtime residents. Our sister Patch in Belmont has  after voting.

The big battle of the night is in Ohio where Santorum and Romney were in a virtual tie at 11 p.m.. With 78-percent of the vote, Santorum was at 37.6 percent and Romney at 37.3, according to Huffington Post.

Romney also won in Vermont and Virginia and took the Idaho Causus, while Santorum took Tennessee and Oklahoma and the North Dakota Causus.

As expected, Gingrich won his home state of Georgia.
