DiLisio Plans Re-Election Campaign Kickoff

The at-large city councilor is seeking a second term.

City Councilor Jay DiLisio and his supporters will gather Sunday at Scorpio's in downtown Attleboro for a "family friendly" event to kick off his re-election campaign, the councilor wrote in a press release. He is seeking a second term as an at-large councilor in the fall election.

DiLisio, 36, was elected to the council in 2011 when he placed fifth in a field of nine at-large candidates. He heads the council's Committee on City Property & Claims. A Stoneham native, DiLisio and his wife Amy moved to Attleboro in 2004. They have a young son. DiLisio's day job is in Providence, where he works as a vice president at Bank of America.

As of Thursday, DiLisio is one of four candidates certified for the at-large contest. The others are incumbents Richard Conti and Brian Kirby as well as challenger Heather Porreca. Incumbent Peter Blais as well as potential challengers Bert Buckley, Ronald Chuchill and Stephen Kane have pulled papers, but not returned them.

The deadline to get on the ballot is July 30. If there are at least 11 at-large candidates, there will be a preliminary election Sept. 17 to reduce the field to 10. The regular election will take place Nov. 5.

DiLisio's campaign kickoff event is open to everybody. It will take place this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Scorpio's, which is located at 55 Park St. in Attleboro. DiLisio's campaign website is www.electj.com.
