Conservation Commission to Review Walmart Supercenter Plans Tonight

Members will meet with engineers from Bohler Engineering who are presenting site plans for a Route 6 Walmart supercenter. A public hearing will be held.

Engineers will meet with Seekonk Conservation Commission members tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall Chambers to present proposed site plans to build a Route 6 Walmart supercenter.

Members are required to make sure plans do not violate the Wetlands Protection Act. Earlier in the summer, engineers were asked to come back before the board with plans that did not infringe upon a vernal pool that houses ferry shrimp.

Members affiliated with Seekonk First, a citizens group composed of Seekonk residents dedicated to raise awareness regarding the proposed Wamart plans, have been vocal regarding their disapproval of the project. Some residents are upset by the proximity of the proposed store to a nearby residential neighborhood.
