Committee Takes on Town Administrator Search

Board of Selectmen members appointed a five-person board to find Michael Carroll's replacement.

And the search for a new town administrator is on.

According to Anne Rogers, executive assistant to the Board of Selectmen, members appointed five residents to a search committee that will hire Michael Carroll's replacement in preparation of his July retirement.

The search committee consists of educator Peter Hoogerzeil, Edith Krekorian, Paul Buckley, Ron Devine, Richard Perry.

Seven applicants were interviewed; four candidates withdrew their names from the pool, including resident Arthur Foulkes after he chastised board members for their .

Selectmen were anticipated to meet with the new committee Tuesday night to review expectations and board protocol regarding the hiring of the new administrator.

In other government news, Town Clerk Jan Parker would like to remind residents to renew their dog licenses by May 31 or incur a $20 late fee. Licenses cost $10 if the animal is fixed and $20 if they are not. 

Last year, 1,700 licenses were registered by municipal employees. This year, 1,300 have been registered.
