Selectmen Candidate Paul Buckley

Buckley is one of three candidates running for an open seat on the Board of Selectmen.

Seekonk voters on Monday will choose one of three men to fill the seat on the Board of Selectmen vacated in June by Bill Rice. Voting will take place at Seekonk High School from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Below is the profile for candidate Paul Buckley.

What has your involvement been in town government and/or activism? For town government, I have served 6 years on the Personnel Board and over 3 years on the Board of Assessors. I have been a member of Town Administrator and Fire Chief Search committees. I am also a member of the Seekonk Republican Town Committee being appointed chair in 2007.

How long have you lived in Seekonk? What keeps your here? I am a lifelong resident of Seekonk. Why I remain here in Seekonk are my long grown roots to this town. I love my neighborhood and friends and would not change them for anything else.  

Why are you running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen? My leadership skills are the biggest reason for running. What counts is that I will do my best and be committed to the citizens of Seekonk.

What makes you qualified to be on the Board of Selectmen? I have been serving on Seekonk boards and committees for close to 10 years. My experience and acquired respect of my colleagues make me the most qualified candidate.

What are the top three issues in Seekonk and how do you plan to address them as a selectman?

  • Animal Control Building/ Senior Community Center/ Banna Fire Station: I will support and work with the building committees to ensure these vital projects go through as planned.
  • Dedicated IT service: I will work closely with the Town Administrator on bringing an IT infrastructure presence in Town Hall.
  • Human Resources Advisory Board: I will work with my fellow board members and the Town Administrator to implement this much needed resource as soon as possible. 

What are your interests outside politics and town activism? I love to kick back after spending an afternoon working in the yard. I also look forward to the Boston Celtics run for Banner 18!
