Bicentennial Ball Kicks Off Year-Long Celebration

Tickets are on sale now for the event.

Seekonk will kick off its 200 anniversary in style with a formal ball held at  on Jan. 21.

The event will include cocktails and a chicken dinner. It would not be a ball if there were no dancing, so the town has booked the band “Maloi” to provide the music while the guests dance. “Maloi” is a local band formed by former band director Gaston Malloy.

Attendees are expected to wear formal attire or come in period appropriate costume. As Seekonk was incorporated in 1812, this means wearing 1800s garb such as long gowns with wide skirts for the women and coattails and gloves for the men.
