Attleboro Youth Commission Chairman Passes the Gavel

The Attleboro Youth Commission held its elections at City Hall on Wednesday night.

The Attleboro Youth Commission, a group of students who advocate for the needs and wants of the city's youth, held their official election Wednesday night. 

Andrew Meehan, a senior at has stepped down as chairman. Filling the slot is Adam Tellier, the commission's former treasurer.  

Tellier took no time getting comfortable in his new role, asking other members of the commission to vote on issues on the agenda, including dividing the $3,000 raised during a recent fundraiser between two non-profit organizations.

Charlotte Kerwin, who had another committment, was notified by Chairman Tellier by cellphone during the meeting that she was elected vice chairman of the commission. Rachel Furlong was elected treasurer and Nijal Popat and Caroline Kirby were elected co-secretaries. 

The new officers will be recognized at Tuesday's Attleboro City Council meeting and Meehan will be recognized as the outgoing chairman.
