Attleboro Voters Choose Gabriel Gomez

Approximately 20 percent of registered voters came out in Attleboro

Attleboro voters had a different opinion than most in the state Tuesday.

As Ed Markey celebrated his win in Tuesday's Special Senate Election, Attleboro poll workers finalized results that showed Gabriel Gomez with a clear victory in the city.

According to unofficial results released by the city's Elections Department Tuesday night, Gomez took Attleboro with 2,872 votes - 54 percent of the vote.

Ed Markey received 2,460 votes in Attleboro - good enough for 46 percent of the vote. Richard Heos received 21 votes for less than 1 percent of the vote, according to the unofficial results.

In total, 5,361 of the 26,073 registered voters went to the polls in Attleboro Tuesday, making for a 20.6 percent turnout.

Gomez won in 11 of the 12 Attleboro precincts. The only precinct to vote for Ed Markey was Precinct 5A where Markey tallied 127 votes and Gomez tallied 102, according to unofficial results.
