Attleboro Receives Neighborhood Stablization Program Grant

The office of Senator James E. Timilty announced Attleboro is receiving a grant.

The Massachusetts Community Development Block Grant Program recently awarded the City Of Attleboro a FY2010 Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP3) grant of up to $999,999.

The money awarded to Attleboro will be distributed to a predetermined target area known as Census Tract 6314, a section of southern Attleboro bordered in the west by 3rd and Mechanic Street and in the east by Brook Street.

Under the Department of Housing and Community Development, the federal funds awarded through the Massachusetts Community Development Block Grant, Neighborhood Stabilization Program (CDBG-NSP3) are allocated to cities and towns with populations fewer than 50,000 people for rehabilitative projects.

Typically, communities fund projects revitalizing public facilities or infrastructure and revamping downtown areas with Neighborhood Stabilization Program grants.

Other uses include loans for businesses with less than five employees, or micro-enterprises, and reworking architecture to improve accessibility for people with limited mobility.

Together with the Department of Housing and Community Development, the City of Attleboro will come to an agreement on the specifics of each project as outlined in the grant contract.
