Attleboro Capital Improvements Plan Signed, Sealed and Delivered to City Council

Nearly 200 capital projects have been proposed for the city of Attleboro for fiscal years 2012-2016.

Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas presented the City Council with a planning tool on Tuesday night that includes 199 capital improvement projects proposed over the next five years (Fiscal Years 2012-2016).

The 118-page plan, prepared by Department of Planning and Development Director Gary Ayrassian with help from 20 municipal departments, will be discussed beginning Thursday, March 3, at 5 p.m. at  The projects are evaluated by the Attleboro City Council, its finance committee and the Attleboro Planning Department, who are also tasked with coordinating funding for projects and monitoring their implementation. 

Included in the CIP is a status update of more than 70 projects that were completed in 2010, including the $1.9 million completion of Phase I construction of the downtown streetscape, the engineering and construction of the $3 million South Attleboro water-main transmission line and the purchase of Rescue 1.

"For all of the different types of projects we were able to accomplish over the past year and bring to conculsion–I think that is absolutely fantastic especially given the state of the economy," Dumas told the council. When we are talking about the city as moving forward–and it continues to move forward–that is something that we all have to be proud of."
