WATCH: Police Salute Late Chief Sabourin

Saluting officers honored Retired Police Chief Roland Sabourin Tuesday morning outside St. John Evangelist Church in Attleboro. Sabourin passed away last week.

Saluting police officers lined the steps of St. John Evangelist Church, Amazing Grace played and Main St. was shut down Tuesday morning as retired Police Chief Roland Sabourin was honored and remembered.

Sabourin passed away last week at the age of 65 after a battle with lung cancer. His funeral was Tuesday.

The retired chief served United States Coast Guard from 1966-1970, and was a member of the Attleboro Police Department for 32 years. He was the chief for 17 of those years.

"He had a very charismatic personality," current Police Chief Kyle Heagney said. "He was a very magnetic person. He had a great enjoyable sense of humor. He was a charming person."
