One Person Dies in Main Street Crash

A Rhode Island man faces charges of vehicular homicide and OUI liquor.

Update 6 a.m. Lt. Tom Dion from the Attleboro Police Department told Patch that one person is dead and another is under arrest from the crash.

Jason Kwolek, 32, of Pawtucket was arrested at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where he was taken after the crash. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, OUI liquor, operating a motor vehicle to endanger and speeding.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision on North Main Street near the Keith Drive intersection on Thursday at approximately 10:20 p.m., a witness told Attleboro Patch.

Jaws of life were used to remove at least one person from one of the vehicles and at least one person was sent to a hospital in Rhode Island.

"I heard a car speed by," said a man who lives near the crash site. "Shortly after, I heard a tire blow out, and then a crash. It was just a chain of events."

A power pole was struck in the crash, knocking out power at least briefly.

A dispatcher at the Attleboro police station told Patch at 12 a.m. that the crash was under investigation and nobody from the station could comment.

Attleboro Patch will have more information soon.
