Update: Two Apprehended After State Police SWAT Team Surrounds Home

Attleboro Police have arrested two people from a home at 19 George St.

Editor's Note: An earlier story on this incident indicated Attleboro Police's Tactical Response Team was deployed to the home, the tactical team was Massachusetts State Police's team.

The Attleboro Police Department assisted detectives from Massachusetts State Police's Special Tactical Operations (STOP) team in a tactical mission just after 8 p.m. Wednesday. Dressed in tactical gear the team surrounded the home at 19 George St. in Attleboro, entered and arrested a male and female at the home. 

The lead investigative agency for the investigation was the Bristol County District Attorney's Drug Unit. Attleboro Police assisted in the arrest and investigation, according to Attleboro Police Det. Sgt. Art Brillon.

Joshua Kannair, 24, of 19 George St., and LauraLee Wheeler, 25, whose last known address was also at that location, were taken into custody by  and both charged with possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute, possession of ammunition and carrying a firearm without a license. 

Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Christopher Dolan, who was at the home along with Attleboro Police detectives and uniformed officers, would not say what occured on the first floor of the double decker house and deferred all questions to the Bristol County District Attorney's office.

A resident of the home who asked not to be identified said he was in the back of his house when he heard the commotion outside.

"I thought there was a fight going on and when I came outside I saw him (STOP team member) standing in kevlar and holding and M4 rifle," the resident said. "There was SWAT guys all over the neighborhood, State Police cruisers and Attleboro cops. They were going through the back door."

Kannair was previously arrested and charged with with a dangerous weapon in an incident at the same address on March 19.

According to the Sun Chronicle, Kannair was also arrested in 2007 and charged with dealing drugs after police found a 9 millimeter semi-automatic handgun, small amounts of cocaine and hallucinogenic mushrooms and 10 bullets inside Kannair's dresser drawer.
