Thousands in Seekonk Area Lose Power As Storm Continues

At least one Massachusetts person has died so far in the storm.

Thousands of people in the Seekonk area are in the dark Sunday morning after an unexpected winter storm swept through the region.

As of 6 a.m. Sunday, National Grid's Outage Central was reporting that approximately 400 customers were without power in an area stretching from the center of town up to Winthrop Street. Nearly 800 customers were out around Perrins Crossing. Several other Seekonk areas also reported scattered outages. Meanwhile, thousands remain in the dark in parts of Attleboro and other neighboring communities.

At least one person has died and over 300,000 have lost power statewide, the Boston Globe reports.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm should fade through the morning. Snow is likely in the area through 11 a.m., at which point it should turn into rain.
