Update: Thousands in Attleboro Lose Power; Some Still Waiting

Thousands of Attleboro residents were in the dark Sunday morning after a winter storm swept through the region.

According to National Grid's Outage Central, wide-scale outages have been reported in parts of the city. As of 6 a.m. Sunday, approximately 1,300 customers were without power in an area stretching from downtown to Briggs Corner. Close to another 1000 are reportedly without power between the area of S. Main Street and County Street/South Avenue. Several other areas also reported scattered outages.

Since then, power has returned for many people. There are, however, people still without power in Attleboro including Jason Alfred.

"No power over here on chapel hill," Alfred wrote on Attleboro Patch Facebook's Page. "All my fridge/freezer items are packed in the coolers with snow covering them. Hope it works."

Brian Procopio of Attleboro said he lost power from roughly 12:30 to 4:00am today, then lost it again around 1 p.m. in the area by the Dunkin' Donuts near Capron Park.

Mayor Kevin Dumas said power is still out for some in the County Square area as well as the Thurber Avenue area. Dumas is asking residents to please report any power outages to National Grid at 1-800-465-1212 and to report all down power lines to the Attleboro Police Department at 508-222-1212.

At least one person has died and over 300,000 have lost power statewide, the Boston Globe reports.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm should fade through the morning. Snow is likely in the area through 11 a.m., at which point it should turn into rain.
