Small Fire Causes Amtrak to Stop the Trains in Attleboro (VIDEO)

Attleboro and Pawtucket fire departments responded to a small fire behind State Line Auto.

Attleboro Police responded to a fire behind State Line Auto Brokers, located on the Pawtucket/Attleboro border, just after 6 p.m.Thursday night.

The fire started when a fallen tree hit some wires and caused a spark which resulted in a fire behind the building, eyewitnesses told Pawtucket Fire Lt. Robert Thurber. Because of the fire, the fire department contacted Amtrak to stop the trains, since Amtrak and Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Commuter Rail trains utilize the railroad behind the building.

Firefighters from Attleboro and Pawtucket were on the scene to put out the small fire, which was about 50 feet wide. It is believed that high winds knocked down the tree, which hit the power lines and caused the fire, according to Thurber.
