After a Week of Remembrance, Seekonk Raises Flags Back to Full Mast
Seekonk flags were lowered to half-mast last week to honor the memories of those affected by the Tucson shooting.
On Friday afternoon, firefighters Evan Akers and Adam Dalessio got into a rescue vehicle, drove out to the Seekonk Cemetery, and trudged out to the flag pole in the center of the Newman Avenue burial ground.
The two were there to hoist the American and black Prisoner of War flags back to full height, after a week of them being lowered to half mast in memory of those injured or killed during the Tucson, AZ, shootings. Gov. Deval Patrick ordered that flags across Massachusetts be lowered last week.
After Akers and Dalessio made sure the ropes were secure at Seekonk Cemetery, the two then moved on to the to right the flag located there.
