Rep. Dan Gordon Awaits Massachusetts Arraignment as 'Fugitive' From Justice

State representative will face Massachusetts charges stemming from 2008 motor vehicle charges and failure to appear in court.

Rep. Daniel Gordon Jr., of 35 Allan Ave. in Portsmouth, R.I., was arraigned in Providence District Court on Monday morning following a stay in the Adult Correctional Institute (ACI) after Rhode Island State Police arrested him on extensive Massachusetts driving charges.

The representative now faces a Massachusetts "fugitive" charge after
he waived extradition rights in district court.

As of late Monday morning, he waited in a district court cell block to be taken to the Fall River Judiciary Center by Fall River police officers.

Rep. Gordon was charged in April of 2008 with failing to stop for police, driving without a registration and a suspended license, marked lanes violations and a number plate violation to conceal I.D. in Somerset, MA. He then failed to appear in court, according to district court documents.

Depending on the outcome of the Massachusetts court appearance, he will be held at the Adult Corrections Institute (ACI) until Oct. 20, where he will be seen in Providence District Court again.
