Rape Reported in Seekonk

The suspect is also accused of kidnapping and intimidation.

A Cranston man is in custody following a reported rape early Saturday morning at Mary's Motor Lodge in Seekonk. The incident involved multiple victims of multiple crimes, Seekonk Police Capt. Craig Mace wrote in an email to Seekonk Patch.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after 12 a.m. following a call by a "female reporting being assaulted," according to the police log.

The 59-year-old Cranston man was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, intimidation of a witness and threat to commit a crime. One woman was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, according to the police log. A 19-year-old woman who was at the motel was arrested on a warrant. It is not clear if she was the same woman who was taken to the hospital.

Mace said he could not provide a police report or more information because the suspect had been arraigned at Taunton District Court.

  • 3:21 p.m. Robert M. Martin, 46, of Boston was arrested at a home on Bergeron Street on suspicion of domestic assault and battery. There was also an unspecified warrant for him from Boston.

Jan. 23

  • 9:34 p.m. Sean F. O'Connor, 22, of Seekonk was arrested following a traffic stop on Fall River Avenue. He was suspected of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and having a motor vehicle equipment violation.
