Police Take Four Men into Custody After Attempted Abduction

Attleboro, Seekonk and Rehoboth police apprehended four men after they attempted to abduct a woman in Rehoboth.

The and were contacted by Rehoboth Police to provide mutual aid in searching for four male suspects after a woman ran away from a car full of men who were allegedly following her, according to Seekonk Police Lt. Frank John.

"We had several Seekonk officers assist in the search," Seekonk Police Lt. Frank John said.

Lt. John, along with Capt. Craig Mace, also of Seekonk, caught one of the four suspects who who allegedly attempted to abduct the woman who was jogging with her dog in the area of Jameson Drive and Tremont Street in Rehoboth Monday morning.

After one of the men allegedly got out of the car, the woman let go of her dog and ran to a nearby home for help. When no one answered, she hid in the woods. She then ran home to call police. 

"Attleboro police oOfficers were called to the Rehoboth/Attleboro line to assist with a search for multiple subjects wanted in connection to a reported abduction that had occurred in Rehoboth," Det. Sgt. Arthur Brillon said. "Officers were involved in a search of the area for several hours and assisted with locating at least one of the suspects.

"The search included the Briggs Corner, Oakhill Avenue and Reynolds Street areas," Brillon added. "During the search, as many as four to five (Attleboro) officers and three (Attleboro) detectives were involved.

After five hours, Ryan McCoy, 23, of Attleboro, along with brothers Benjamin Gould, 23, and James Gould, 27, of Plainville, and Philip Muggle, 29, of Rehoboth, were arrested for the alleged attempted kidnapping and charged with trespassing and resisting arrest. The men will be arraigned in Taunton District Court today.
