Police Log: Crosswalk Collision, Thief Runs From Dean Street Resident

Police responded to calls reporting fights, road rage, and nighttime theft.

All reports are provided by the :

  • On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Seekonk officers responded to the Motel to help Providence police officers find an alleged sex offender.
  • On Sept. 29, a woman pushing a shopping carriage in a crosswalk was struck by a motorist. She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
  • On Sept. 30, a New York resident reported his fanny pack containing credit cards, his license and $750 in cash was stolen from a dining room table at the . He was advised to cancel his credit and bank cards.
  • A Dean Street resident scared off a man who had broken into his wife's vehicle parked in his driveway on Wednesday, Oct. 5. By the time the alleged thief starting running into the man's backyard, police responded and followed the alleged larcenist through the backyard, using search dogs, and then onto Valley and Oak streets. Officers ended the trek after mutiple searches in area backyards were not successful. The vehicle was not damaged. Only loose change was taken from the ashtray.
  • Police responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot on Oct. 5 at approximately 1:35 p.m. after two vehicles got into a minor accident at the intersection of Fall River Avenue and Commerce Way. Both men were wearing bloody ripped shirts; one had a cut under his left eye. Both refused to press charges.
