Police Log: A Week of Credit Card Theft, Counterfeit Bills and Fraud

The following Attleboro Police arrests and incidents are from April 15 to 21.

Lesson learned for one laptop owner

A man reported that he left a laptop, valued at $1,000, on the MBTA commuter rail train. On Saturday, April 16, the man told police he immediately contacted the MBTA, who said they would contact him if someone returned it to the lost and found. The man never heard back about his Hewlett Packard laptop.

Bike ride turns bloody for one juvenile

One boy could have been severely hurt at the intersection of Park and Maple streets when his bike collided with the front of a motor vehicle.

Officer Rogers was called to the scene of the accident and spoke to the male driver and the juvenile riding the bike. The boy, who was not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the accident, was treated for a minor knee injury at . 

An Attleboro man's trip to the west coast cost more than he expected

An Attleboro man reported to police that he was the victim of fraud. The man was notified by his bank, Citizens Bank, of suspicious activity on his account. The bank informed him that a transaction had been made at Walmart in Elk Grove, CA. The man told the bank and reported to police that he had been in California two weeks prior to the Walmart transaction. Citizens bank deactivated the account and told the victim the more than $700 would be returned to his account. 

Thieves could not resist shiny pink Blackberry

Two Blackberry smartphones were stolen from the music room, two students reported to police on Saturday, April 16. The students, who were using the music room as a changing room for a dance recital at the school, said the phones were stolen out of their purses, but that nothing else of value had been taken. The School Resource Officer, Robert Hale, was contacted and informed of the incident. 

It wasn't the right time to steal the donuts

Police responded to 1074 Washington St. in South Attleboro on Saturday, April 16 to investigate a call for an attempted breaking and entering. When police arrived at the bakery they were told of a possible break-in the night before. The bakery owner told police that door hinges were tampered with and that the door jam showed pry marks. Nothing was missing from the bakery. One other similar incident in South Attleboro was reported that same week at 9 Nora Way. Like with the bakery, nothing was stolen. Police said they would provide extra checks of the area. 

Attleboro woman's credit card used in Walmart shopping spree

An Attleboro woman claimed she was the victim of credit card fraud. The woman, who was contacted by her bank, Dexter Credit Union in Central Falls, RI, told police that six purchases totalling more than $600 were made with her card at Walmart stores in Ridgeland and Flowood, MS. 

Woman robbed of her shoes and mattress

Someone stole a trash bag of summer clothes and shoes from the basement of a Park Avenue resident, the victim told police. The Attleboro woman's belongings along with an infant mattress were stolen from her basement, she told police on April 17. The woman told police that the basement door was secured with a padlock, but had been forced open.

April 21

  • Frederick Bennett, 58, of 113 First St., Pawtucket, RI, was arrested on charges od drunk driving (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. 
  • Julius Summerville, 21, of 47 Carpenter St., was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and not having an inspection sticker. 
  • Kevin Todd, 25, of 93 Summit St. Pawtucket, RI, was arrested on a warrant for unarmed robbery.

April 19

  • Misty White, 32, of 999 Read St., was arrested on a warrant for driving with a suspended license and speeding. 
  • Charles Yankez, 24, of 502 Hunt St. Central Falls, RI, was arrested on a warrant for driving without a license and speeding.

April 17

  • Daniel Polfeet, 30, of 21 Summer St., was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. 
  • Jennifer Kelliher, 26, of 437 Broadway North Attleboro, was arrested on charges of shoplifting and concealing merchandise worth more than $100.
  • Jesse Kegley, 28, of 77 Orange St., was arrested on charges of defrauding a restaurant. 

April 15

  • Nicholis Hollis, 22, of 16 Westsouth Main St., was arrested on a warrant for intimidating a witness. 
  • Chris Demers, 21, of 21 Cliff St., was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest. 
  • Juan Resto-Peralta, 33, of 16 Thirteenth St., was arrested on a violation to conceal number plate warrant.
  • Edward Mcmanus,45, of 115 Col Chris Greene Rd. Portsmouth, RI, was arrested on a warrant for Class B drug possession, possessing counterfeit money, and larceny over $250.
  • Troy Walden, 34, of 7255 Post Rd. North Kingstown, RI, was arrested on a warrant out of Westport for operating under the influence, possessing counterfeit money and larceny over $250. 
  • Carlos Correa, 27, of 4 Barnes St. West Warwick, RI, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and a miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation. 
  • Britany Kay, 22, of 70 Lexington Ave. Attleboro, was arrested for driving with a suspended registration and an uninsured motor vehicle.
  • George Smith, 29, of 451 Renaud St. Fall River, was arrested on a warrant out of Seekonk for leaving the scene of property damage, possession of counterfeit money and larceny over $250.
