Police Have Possible Suspect in Carjacking

A vehicle reported stolen in Seekonk is found two days later in Rhode Island.

A person of interest found in North Kingstown, R.I. near a van that had been taken in a reported carjacking in Seekonk could be a suspect in the alleged crime, Seekonk police Lt. Frank John said.

"We're trying to place him in Seekonk," wrote John of the possible suspect in an email to Seekonk Patch.

The van had been taken from a family of three Saturday night in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Highland Avenue in Seekonk, according to Seekonk police. It was found on Monday in an unspecified shopping center in North Kingstown.

The Seekonk police log states officers arrived at the scene of the reported carjacking at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Saturday. A man told police that his son had been in the vehicle and a man told him to get out, but did not show a weapon. The man's wife told police her purse and house keys were in the vehicle. It was not specified if they were found in the van in North Kingstown.
