Police Cleared in Fatal Shooting of Attleboro Man

A Rhode Island grand jury determines the killing of Jamie Coyle was legally justified.

Two Pawtucket police officers who shot and killed an Attleboro man on May 2 in Rhode Island will not be charged with a crime. A Providence County grand jury determined Thursday that the killing of Jamie Coyle, who the officers said had tried to shoot them, was legally justified, according to the state Attorney General's office.

Officers Emmanuel Mejia and Jess Venturini fired at Coyle, 37, after he tried to shoot them with his jammed gun, according to the Providence Journal. The shooting took place next to Coyle's car outside a housing complex
