Police Break Up Teenage Fist Fight Caused by Facebook Feud

One of the male fighters wrapped his hands up in elastic bandages after getting the tip from Internet fight videos.

On Monday, March 28, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Martin Elementary School to break up a fist fight between two teenage males that drew about 20 juveniles, according to a police report written by Patrol Officer Fred Paquin. As the officers approached the area, groups of minors fled the area. A daycare was operating inside the school during the altercation.

After interviewing a group of minors involved, officers learned the fight stemmed from an argument that began on Facebook, a popular social networking site. A hostile Internet exchange went back and forth until the teenagers decided to settle the argument with a fight. According to the report, one of the young males said he was punched in the face numerous times and thought his nose might be broken. Rescue personnel and the young male's father were called to school's parking lot; he was not transported to a hospital.

One of the males arrived at the fight with elastic bandages wrapped around his wrist. When officers asked him where he got the idea, he said he watched fight videos on the Internet, according to the report.
