Attleboro Man Charged in Alleged Air Conditioner Theft

An Easton man and an Attleboro man were arrested Wednesday night.

An Easton man and an Attleboro man were arrested Wednesday night in Norton after police allegedly found them in possession of a stolen air conditioner.

Attleboro Police Liutenant Todd Jackson said Douglas Parlee, 52, of Whalen Drive, Attleboro, and Michael Carter, 20, of Barrows Street, N. Easton, were charged with larceny over $250, malicious destruction of property over $250 and possession of burglarious tools.

Jackson said Sgt. Jon Goodwin first noticed a suspicious motor vehicle behind a vacant commercial building at 336 Old Colony Rd. at approximately 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

"Sgt. Goodwin responded to the area and stopped the vehicle as it attempted to leave the parking lot of the building," Jackson said in a statement.  "Sgt. John Eisnor responded to the scene to assist and the officers spoke with two males in the pick-up truck.  The officers noticed a large air conditioning unit in the bed of the truck.  After further investigation, the officers discovered that the air conditioning unit had been removed from the building.  Both males were subsequently placed under arrest."

Parlee and carter are expected to appear in Attleboro District Court Thursday.
