Former Corrections Officer Accused of Sex with Inmate

Attleboro resident Amy S. Carpentier was arraigned Friday in Brockton Superior Court.

An Attleboro resident and former corrections officer has been charged with having sex with an inmate while employed at the state prison in Bridgewater. Amy S. Carpentier, 38, was arraigned Friday in Brockton Superior Court after turning herself in at the Plymouth police station.

Carpentier was indicted on the charge by a grand jury in December 2010, but authorities had been unable to locate her, Assistant District Attorney Thomas Flanagan said. She was also charged with intimidating a witness.

Judge Raymond Veary released Carpentier on her promise to return to court and ordered her to stay away from the alleged victim and witnesses. She is due back in court Jan. 25.
