Update: Man's Body Found in Pond at Larson Woods

Attleboro Police say a man was found in water between two and three feet deep across the street from Willett Elementary School.

The body of a 49-year-old man has been found in Mechanics Pond near the walking trail of Larson Woods in Attleboro. 

Acting Attleboro Police Chief Kyle Heagney said the body was discovered by someone walking the nature trail across from Willett Elementary School. "Someone using the nature trail discovered it," Heagney said.

"We don't know if it was a simple drowning or foul play," Heagney said. "It is still under investigation."

He added that "it doesn't appear to be suspicious at this time."

Attleboro Police Det. Sgt Art Brillon said the body was found in an area of the pond that "appeared to be between two and three-feet deep."

The Massachusetts State Medical Examiner arrived on the scene just after 2 p.m. Sunday to take the body.

Police have not released the man's name until his family has been notified.
