Updated: Attleboro Cat Rescued From Tree

Members from the Animal Rescue League of Boston rescued a cat from a tree near Maynard St. Thursday afternoon.

The cat was still alert and conscious when rescuers finally pulled him down from his 40 foot perch, senior Rescue Technician Mark Vogel said.

Vogel was accompanied by fellow senior rescue technician Danielle Genter in the effort, which was ongoing since early Thursday afternoon.

The cat was eventually pulled down by a 12 foot restraint pole, Vogel said. Genter was in reach of the cat and lowered him down to Vogal, who was located further down the tree.

Rescuers were finally able to pull the cat down just before nightfall.

"He was alert," Vogal said. "He felt a little dehydrated."
