Bus and Trucks Get Wrecked in Route 44 Pile-Up

Officers took more than an hour to clear Route 44 after a Monday afternoon three-vehicle accident blocked the road.

On Monday afternoon, East Providence and Seekonk officers responded to a three-vehicle pile-up on Route 44, close to the border of the two towns. It took more than an hour to clear the area after a Dodge pick-up truck carrying a car trailer was hit by a Johnson & Wales transportation bus, which was in turn immediately struck by another truck.

The chain reaction occurred while the Dodge truck was trying to make a left into a car dealership, according to Seekonk police.

"I've never seen anything like it," said Captain Craig Mace, noting even the truck's car trailer was struck by the bus.
