Bristol County District Attorney Has Person of Interest in Sunday's Fire/Homicide

Matthew Gumkowski was named as a person of interest by the Bristol County DA's office.

The Bristol County Assistant District Attorney Steven Butts has announced that officials have a person of interest in the who was found dead by in the third-floor apartment at a rooming house on Dunham Street Sunday night.

Matthew Gumkowski, 30, was identified as a "person of interest" by officials after he was named by a witness as the last person to see Kilrow alive before the fire, the Sun Chronicle reported. 

"We are looking at various aspects of this case and not saying he's the one," Bristol County District Attorney Spokesperson Gregg Miliote said.

The DA's office ruled Kilrow's Tuesday morning, after an autopsy was completed. How he was murdered is still unknown.

"No cause of death is being released during this pending investigation," Miliote said.

Several people at the were questioned by detectives about what they heard and saw before the fire and some residents of the apartment building at the scene were summoned to the station to answer questions. 

Witnesses at the scene including building manager Joe Buckley spoke to police about what they heard.
