Attleboro Police Arrest City Man After Motor Vehicle and Foot Pursuit

A South Attleboro man was arrested after he allegedly took police on a car chase at a speed over 100 mph and a subsequent foot chase.

An Attleboro man was arrested on a slew of charges early Monday morning after he allegedly led police on a vehicle and foot pursuit through a city neighborhood.

According to Attleboro Det. Sgt. Arthur Brillon, Jose Acevedo, 38, of Colvin St. was arrested for failure to stop, operating with a suspended license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

Brillon said Attleboro Police Detective Gilbert Bechtel was responding to an unrelated incident at approximately 12:30 a.m. with lights and sirens on, when Acevedo, driving a gold Chrystler Sebring, pulled in front of him.

Acevedo allgedly crashed into a stop sign, then proceeded to drive away at a speed "well over 100 mph," Brillon said. At the area of Bryce St., Acevedo exited his vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued near 2113 County St., where he was eventually taken into custody.
