Attleboro Man Charged with Armed Robbery

A roundup of Attleboro Police Activities Oct. 20 - 24.

Sun. Oct 24:  Justin Smith, 29, of 47 Burgess St. was arrested and charged with armed robbery, walking on the railroad tracks and disturbing the peace. The arrest came after police responded to Bristol Place Corp., located  at 1270 Newport Ave.

Stephen Grover Jr.,33, of 1390 County St.,  was arrested at 30 Lord St. for assault and battery.

Officer dos Santos and Detective Peavey were dispatched at approximately 10:53 p.m. to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in response to a call about a suspicious knife wound. Police  spoke to the injured person, John Bermingham,23 of 96 Wampum St.,Wrentham.  Officers described Bermingham as uncooperative and note that his story changed several times. Bermingham explained that after a long work day and drinks at a local bar he returned home. Still in his car, he had a telephone conversation with a female regarding his dislike for her current boyfriend. The current boyfriend got on the phone and a loud argument ensued. In anger, Bermingham reportedly took a kitchen knife from his lunch box and stabbed the steering wheel and inadvertently slid his hand down the knife, cutting himself on the right pinky and middle finger.

When asked how he arrived at the hospital, Bermingham told the police he was driven by two friends. One of those friends, Kyle Moran, told police he had not driven Bermigham to Sturdy. Bermingham conceded that he was the one who drove to the hospital and that the eight-inch knife was in his truck. Police found the knife on the floorboard of the driver's side and took it as evidence. 

Police also observed Moran with glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his body. Moran was asked to recite the alphabet was put into protective custody and booked. Wrentham Police were notified of the incident.

Sat.Oct. 23:

Michele Berriault, 36, was cited for following too close in her 2004 Hyundi, as a result of a rear-end collision with a 2008 Honda owned and operated by Sarah Cambridge, 28. The accident occurred at 10:38 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and Holcott Drive. Berriault's car sustained significant damage to the front-end and was towed from the scene. Cambridge's car sustained back-end damage. No one was injured.

Adam Moucharite, 45, of 73 East Bacon St., in south Attleboro called the police to report a larceny. Officer Enegren responded and spoke to Moucharite who reported that his son's Mongoose BMX Bike was left in the fenced-in yard when the family had left the premises and was stolen.

Thurs. Oct. 21:

Lisa Couto, 40,  of 7 Taunton St. in Plainville reported her 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe was broken into during the thirty minutes she was shopping at the Burlington Coat Factory. Ms. Couto reported that her car was locked and parked under a parking lot light, not more than 20 spaces away from the front door. When she returned, she saw her sunglasses on the car's floor and noticed a Sirius radio and Phillips double portable TVs were missing.

Donna Beauregard,46, of 16 Fifth St., was arrested on a warrant.
