Attleboro Resident Allegedly Robbed a Man at Gunpoint

Augusto Darosa was arrested Saturday morning after a home invasion in Rochester.

An Attleboro man was arrested Saturday morning by after being identified as the man who allegedly robbed thousands of dollars from a Rochester man at gunpoint.

Augusto Darosa, 35, of Philips Street was arrested Saturday morning by Attleboro Police without incident after officers from the Attleboro, Taunton, Brockton Rochester Police Departments along with the Massachusetts State Police searched for him.

Just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 Rochester Police were called by a Hartley Road resident for an armed home invasion that had just occurred, Rochester Police said. "The 21-year-old male victim told responding officers that an acquaintance named "Gus" knocked on his door and when he opened it he was forced back into the house at gunpoint," Police said in a press release.

Darosa allegedly forced the victim to the second floor of the home where he stole a safe containing several thousand of dollars and fled the scene in a dark colored minivan.

Rochester Police Sgt. William Chamberlain and Officer Adam Blightman obtained an arrest warrant for Darosa early Thursday morning.

Early Saturday morning Attleboro Police located the van in the driveway of Darosa's Philip Street and were able to arrest him without incident and transported him back to Rochester. Darosa is facing charges of home invasion while armed with a firearm, armed robbery and larceny over $250.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
