Attleboro Man Accused of Child Rape Due Back in Court After New Year

Dean Abjornson was arrested on child rape charges earlier this month. He is due back in court Jan. 3.

An Attleboro man accused of child rape earlier this month will be spending the holidays in the Bristol County House of Correction.

Dean Abjornson, 44 of 253 S. Main St. was in court on Dec. 11 where a pre-trial hearing was set for Jan. 3.

Abjornson was arrested earlier this month for charges including child rape and possession of an unlicensed firearm.  According to court documents, his bail remains set at $100,000 cash because of the seriousness of the charges and, in part, because of a criminal history.

He has been arrested twice for domestic assault and battery - once in 2004 and again in 2006.

His arrest this month came after police were informed by a teacher in the Attleboro Public School System that a student had made sexual assault accusations.

The student told police that Abjornson had been assaulting her from the time she was approximately "four or five" until she was approximately 13, according to the documents.

During the arrest, an unlicensed firearm was also found in Abjornson's dresser draw, according to police reports.
