Alleged Jackson St. Shooter Back in Court Friday

Richard Galiotte of Attleboro is accused of shooting a neighbor in the abdomen

Richard Galiotte, the Jackson St. man accused of sending an entire Attleboro neighborhood into a "shelter-in-place" last week, will be back in court Friday for a dangerousness hearing.

Galiotte has been held without bail after Friday's incident in-which he allegedly shot his neighbor, Kevin Portillo, of 47 Fourth St. in the abdomen before a nearly seven hour standoff with police on Jackson St.

Charges against him include intimidating a witness, carrying a firearm without a license, defacing a serial number on a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder.

According to court documents, Portillo's mother was home at approximately 3:45 a.m. last Friday when she heard an argument on her front porch. She looked out the window to see her son, Kevin, arguing with a young black male. The suspect then took out a silver revolver and shot "several times", striking her son.

Portillo's shooting prompted an investigation, which led to a standoff at Galliote's home at 7/9 Jackson St.

Portillo later told police that the argument and subsequent shooting last Friday stemmed from an earlier argument in which he confronted Galiottee for dealing drugs in front of his house.

According to Police, Galiotte has a prior criminal record for charges including assault and battery on a police officer, intimidation, threats, possession of a Class B substance, resisting arrest and assault with a dangerous weapon.

A silver Taurus .357 was found within 20 feet of where Galiotte was arrested, documents reveal.
