UPDATE: Early Morning I-95 Accident Turns Fatal

A truck burst into flames in North Attleboro just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, ending fatally for the East Providence driver.

Massachusetts State Police and Attleboro Fire officials are at the scene of an early morning car accident that ended fatally for the driver. 

Massachusetts State Police have identified the driver as a 20-year-old East Providence man. His name will not be released until family has been notified.

A truck burst into flames after crashing into concrete poles under the overpass on Interstate 95 South. Officials have tarps covering the area, where the accident occurred.

"The vehicle struck the bridge support and became fully engulfed," State Police Trooper Todd Nolan said."Attleboro Fire helped extinguish the flames and helped remove him from the vehicle."

Police said the one-car accident is being investigated and that crime scene officials remain at the scene to take measurements, GPS points and to gather more information as to what happened.

"No determination as the cause of the crash has been made," Nolan added.

"I couldn’t see the car perfectly well, but I could see that it was bad; mangled strips of metal," said Attleboro commuter Paula McKeever who was driving by the accident just 20 minutes after it occurred.
