Bad Business Practices at The Attleboro Farmers Market

The way The Attleboro Farmers Market does business is frightening to me.  My partner John Irving and myself own 2 Friends Farm in Attleboro.  We are a certified organic grower that participated in this market last season.  We were going to participate this season until we read on their Facebook page they had invited Bristol County Mosquito Control to have a booth on opening day.  We are protesting this because there is no place at a farmers market for a company that sprays harmful chemicals on our community.  These chemicals kill bees and aquatic life among countless others, which in turn directly affects farmers and the pollination of their crops.  These chemicals are very dangerous to humans too!  When I posted on their Facebook page that chemical companies should never be at a farmers market, which is a safe place for local agriculture purveyors to sell their food directly to the community to enhance the health and wellness of that community, they deleted my post and banned me from posting in the future.  I then wrote an email to all the board members of The Attleboro Farmers Market, but not one of them responded to me.  What kind of a community enriching business doesn't even listen to it's community members?

This farmers market, in our opinion has crossed the line!  They have turned a possibility of a great farmers market into a Flea Market!

If you don't want to be sprayed unknowingly by chemicals, please contact the City of Attleboro to get yourself on the Do Not Spray list.
