Raymond C. Amadio, 89, of Attleboro, passed on his birthday Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton.
He was the husband of the late Gwendolyn M. (Merrill) Amadio who passed on May 20, 2011.
Born in Attleboro March 19, 1924, Raymond was the son of the late Charles and Attila (Dugas) Amadio. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Raymond was raised on Pine Street and educated in Attleboro schools. He left high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. on March 26, 1943 and served as an airplane and engine mechanic at with the 353rd Headquarters Air Base Squadron during WWII and was honorably discharged on March 3, 1946.
Raymond was employed at the Robbins Company in Attleboro for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 62.
Raymond enjoyed fresh water fishing and was a member of the Moose Club in Attleboro. Along with his late wife Gwendolyn, Raymond enjoyed woodworking and they designed and made crafts.
Raymond leaves his children Stephen M. Amadio of Attleboro and Susan R. Parmentier and her husband David of Tuscon, Ariz.; his two sisters Jeannette Brassard and her husband Raymond of Attleboro and Eleanor Lagace of Taunton; his four grandchildren Brian Amadio of Attleboro, Angela Amadio of Seekonk, Joshua Parmentier of Shelby, N.C. and Chelsey Parmentier of Arizona; his two great-grandchildren Luke Amadio and Brena Amadio; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Amadio.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 N. Main St., Attleboro celebrated by the Rev. Wilson, Pastor. Raymond's burial, accompanied by full military honors and Gwendolyn's burial will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, S. Main Street, Dodgeville. At the request of the family, visiting hours are omitted.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.
