Obituary: Paulo J. Rodrigues

Paulo J. Rodrigues volunteered his cooking skills at the Moose Lodge in Attleboro.

Paulo J. Rodrigues, 44, of Falmouth Street, Attleboro, a beloved son, brother and uncle passed Sunday, April 28, 2013 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in St. Michael, Azores on Jan. 3, 1969, Paulo was a son of Maria (Tavares) Rodrigues of Attleboro and the late Manuel Rodrigues who passed on July 15, 2009.

Paulo and his family settled in Attleboro in 1974. He was raised and educated in Attleboro and attended Attleboro High School. Paulo was employed as a chef at the Pawtucket Country Club for the last five years, leaving this February because if illness. Paulo was very charitable and volunteered his cooking skills at the Moose Lodge in Attleboro where he assisted in providing meals for the homeless and young struggling families. 

Paulo was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed the sport. He also enjoyed traveling and visited destinations such as San Diego, Miami Beach, Hawaii and the Alamo in Texas. Paulo enjoyed watching episodes of M*A*S*H and Star Trek and spending time with his family. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge #463 in Attleboro and a communicant of the former Holy Ghost Church, currently the Parish of St. Vincent De Paul in Attleboro.

In addition to his beloved mother, Maria, Paulo is survived by his siblings: Anna P. Faria and her husband Joao of North Attleboro, his younger twin brother Joe M. Rodrigues of Attleboro, and John M. Rodrigues, Sr. of North Attleboro; three nephews: Christopher Faria, John M. Rodrigues, Jr. and Joseph Rodrigues; a niece: Desiree Rodrigues; and many aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, May 3, rom 5–8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Saturday, May 4,  at 10 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Vincent De Paul, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro celebrated by the Rev. Riley Williams, Parochial Vicar. Paulo will be laid to rest beside his beloved father, Manuel in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers and those wishing to remember Paulo in a special way, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to: The Moose Lodge #463, 241 Thacher Street, Attleboro, MA 02703 to provide charitable dinners at the Lodge.
