Obituary: Gerard Wilfred Brodeur

Gerard Wilfred Brodeur, 91, of South Main Street, Attleboro, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Jeannette V. (Pelletier) Brodeur and the late Dorothy M. (Guyette) Brodeur.

Born in West Wickham, Quebec, Canada on July 24, 1921, he was a son of the late Amedee and Marie A. (LaPierre) Brodeur. He resided in the City of Attleboro for most of his life with the exception of several years he lived in Florida.

Mr. Brodeur was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.

Mr. Brodeur was a firefighter for the City of Attleboro for more than 30 years retiring as a Captain of the department. He had also been employed as a carpenter for Norton Construction and then as a self-employed carpenter.

Mr. Brodeur was a communicant of the former St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro and more recently of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Seekonk.

He was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Attleboro and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association.

He will be lovingly missed by his spoiled canine companion, “Trixie”.

He leaves two children: Gerard G. Brodeur of Attleboro with whom he resided for the past ten years; Jill A. Cusson of Seekonk; two stepsons: Ronald Roy and Thomas Roy both of North Attleboro; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; several great grandchildren and extended family members and friends.

He was the father of the late James K. Brodeur who died in 1965 and was the brother of the late Paul Brodeur and Irene Guenette.

Public visitation has been respectfully omitted.

Family and Friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:00AM at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Seekonk.

Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Attleboro.

Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
