Obituary: Frank M. Swistak

The lifelong Attleboro resident was a World War II veteran and jewelry polisher. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Frank M. Swistak of Read Street in Attleboro died March 31. He was 89.

Swistak was born in Attleboro to Frank and Antonina (Kogan) Swistak. A lifelong Attleboro resident, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as a private first class heavy mortar crewman. Swistak received the combat badge and the Bronze Star. He was proud of his military service. 

Swistak was a jewelry polisher for Foster's Jewelry Co. He attended the former St. Mary's Church in Seekonk, now known as Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church. Swistak enjoyed making crafts and sculptures as well as spending time in his garden. He was an avid fisherman and liked spending time with his family.

Swistak is survived by his sons Frank and Patrick; daughters Yvonne and Corrine; daughter-in-law Doris; sister Gertrude; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne; sons Thomas and Michael; daughter Carolyn; brothers John, Louis, Joseph and Eddie and sisters Anna and Victoria.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, located at 385 Central Ave. in Seekonk. The burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
