Obituary: Dora Ann Poissant

A lifelong Attleboro resident three months shy of her 103rd birthday, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting and following the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins.

Dora Ann Poissant of Christopher Heights in Attleboro died April 5, three months prior to her 103rd birthday at the LifeCare Center in Attleboro. She was 102.

Poissant was born in Attleboro on July 1, 1910 as the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Ducharme) Brodeur. She was educated in Attleboro schools and was a lifelong resident of Attleboro. A dedicated homemaker for years, Poissant sought employment when her sons entered high school. She was employed for 27 years at the former General Findings Co. in Attleboro until retirement. 

Poissant was a communicant of the former St. Joseph's Church in Attleboro and a member of the St. Anne's Society at St. Joseph's Church. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting and following the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. A former resident of Pine Street for 60 years, Poissant enjoyed the fellowship and many friends she met the past five years while residing at Christopher Heights and also enjoyed spending time with her beloved family.

Poissant is survived by her sons Michael J. Poissant and his wife Jeanne and Dennis N. Poissant and his wife Linda; sisters Exilier Stubler, Rita Brouillette and Leah Gelinas; grandchildren Scott D. Poissant, Renee Woodard and her husband Paul, Nicole W. Ingegneri and Noelle E. Ingegneri; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman A. Poissant who died in 1986 and siblings Joseph Brodeur, Edward Brodeur, Ernest Brodeur, Emil Brodeur, Eva Lyman, Loretta Belair, Lillian Rogers and Yvonne Turenne. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Vincent DePaul, located at 77 Linden Street in Attleboro. A private burial will take place at a later date in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
