Former Attleboro City Council President Dies

Francis Gillan served on the council in the 1970s and 1980s.

Francis "Frank" Gillan, who served on the Attleboro City Council for several years in the 1970s and 80s including a period as president, died Saturday. He was 93.

His obituary on www.legacy.com states:

Frank grew up in Central Falls and lived most of his life in South Attleboro. He worked as a real estate developer for many years on dozens of local projects, including Sandcastle Estates in South Attleboro. He also worked several years as a court officer in Boston. Frank was active on the Attleboro City Council for many years and served as the council president. He loved politics and was especially proud of his Irish heritage.

Survivors include his wife Eleanor, sister Katherine Gibbons, step-daughters JoAnn Stockwell, Cheryl Vose and Jacqueline Bryson, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
