Remembering Candido Lopes

Candido Lopes, 88, of Attleboro, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.He was the husband of the late Andelina (Alves) Lopes.

Born in Cape Verde on November 1, 1925, He was the son of the late Alexander J. and Guielrmina (Lobo) Lopes.

Mr. Lopes was educated in his native country of Cape Verde.

He was a farmer in his homeland and served in the Cape Verde Army.

Candido moved to the United States in 1988.

He was known for wine making in Cape Verde and was an avid writer. Most important to Mr. Lopes was his family.

Candido leaves twelve children: Maria and Alina Andrade; Alino Lobo; Amelia Antunes; Maria, Roosevelt, Roberto, Carolina, Alexandra, Anna, Guielrmina, Maria Lopes; one sister: Anna Miranda of East Providence, RI; twenty-eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lopes was predeceased by two children: Eugina Nunes and Valdimar Fernandes.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue ,
Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at
8:30 AM from the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 9:00 AM.

Burial will immediately follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.
