Cumberland Games Test Jr. Warriors

Recap of the Seekonk Jr. Warrior games vs. Cumberland players.

The Flag and Jr. Mite games vs. Cumberland were canceled due to field conditions to be made up at a later date. Sunday’s games for Flag and Jr Mite will be against the Lincoln Lions at Seekonk High School.

Fifth Grade

The fourth and fifth grade Jr. Warriors traveled to the Cumberland Colts soaked and muddy field for a game under the lights Sunday. The Warriors' Jack Murphy was the first to score as he slipped and slid his way to a touchdown. Hunter Studley provided the extra point on the drive. The Defense was its usual aggressive self when Nick "The Beast" Desautal jumped on top of the Colts fumble. Midway through the second quarter a heavy down pour made bad conditions worse. It was during this down pour, that Brendan Morales tucked the ball away, kept his traction and made a 40-yard touchdown. Jared Cabral tossed the ball to the outside edge where Jordan Pina was quick to add the extra point. Early in the third quarter, the Colts D-line was parted by Nick Desautal allowing Brendan Morales to again find running room and add to Seekonks' lead. The extra point was again provided by Jordan Pina. Later in the third quarter, Jared Cabral connected with Conner Dowty on third down 17 yard strike to bring it to the Colts 1 yard line. The very next play had the two boys playing catch again, and Conner Dowty recorded his first touchdown of the season. Adam Horowitz provided the extra point for the Warriors. In the fourth quarter Seekonk resorted to a running back platoon approach to wind down the clock. Offensive linemen Jake Rose, Aidan Culpan and Zac Cunha kept pushing back the defensive line while Cameron Oliveira and Casey Brown kept pounding the rock forward. The Warriors crushed the Colts 28 to 6.  The fourth and fifth grade team will face the South Attleboro Whitehawks on Oct. 9.

Seventh Grade

The Seekonk seventh grade Jr. Warriors had another outstanding win today against the Cumberland Colts, 29-6. The Warriors offensive line had another great game led by Riley Cronin, Ryan Lamoureux, and Dan Loiselle. The scoring drive started with a touchdown run by Zac Emanuel. Isaac Elkhoury, Josh Lane and Jason Medeiros also had touchdown runs. Matt Heaney ran in for an extra point and Lamoureux kicked two extra points finishing off the scoring drive for the Jr. Warriors. Elkhoury also had an awesome day playing defense for the Warriors with numerous tackles and an interception. Dyson Gauthier also penetrated the Colts offensive line causing the Colts to turnover on downs. Andrew Silveira made a tackle to stop a run on the outside and David Roy had an interception. Griffin Hoskins and Thomas Neto also contributed to the Seekonk Jr. Warriors defense, holding the Colts to only 6 points. The seventh grade Jr. Warriors are playing Lincoln on Oct. 9 at home.
