Blue and Red Come Together For a Cause

Attleboro and North Attleboro will come together to battle hunger this year.

North Attleboro High School and Attleboro High School have fought many battles over the years, but this year they will be on the same side when fighting one battle: the battle against hunger.

Attleboro High School Principal Bill Runey released a statement Thursday reminding community members to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Hebron Food Pantry and Lenore’s Food Pantry when the two schools meet up on the athletic field for any sport.

According to Runey:

AHS junior volleyball and basketball player, Kimberly Runey thought of the idea and approached her Athletic Director Mark Houle about the idea.

"I saw the lines of people waiting to get something to eat for their families, and I felt that our two schools could use our rivalry to help them," she said.

Throughout the school year, when the rivals meet, look for collection bins and give to help the less fortunate in our community.

The next contest is the Hockomock League football showdown on Friday, October 11 at Attleboro's Tozier-Cassidy Field.
