Harvest Fest for Attleboro's Animals a Huge Success! [VIDEO]

We aimed to make this the biggest Harvest Fest yet, and I am pleased to say we aimed high and we reached the stars on this one!

How does one begin to share gratitude about an event so meaningful, and event that so many animals rely on? Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter’s 8th Annual Harvest Fest was a great success and we owe thanks to so many.

Stop on by the Attleboro Animal Shelter, take a look around. We don’t have a fancy building (actually it is old and run down), but what we do have is a building filled with hope, love, passion and dedication! Look at all the cats and dogs that live there and in foster homes, this event was all for them!

Let me give you a little background to start this off. We are an all volunteer organization, we all work and devote our personal time to the animals in need.  There is only so much we can do and it can be a tiring effort, but it never gets old.  We almost didn’t have this year's Harvest Fest because, quite honestly, many of us were physically drained. Thank goodness two volunteers raised their hands and said “We need to do this,” and they were right. Thank you to Sue O’Neill and Kelly Ramos for getting this event off the ground. Once the ball got rolling there was no stopping the FAAS team!

We aimed to make this the biggest Harvest Fest yet, and I am pleased to say we aimed high and we reached the stars on this one! With daily planning, many meetings and lots of outreach and communication the event was a huge success.

Vendors started to arrive to setup for the event around 7:30 a.m. and by 9:30 a.m. the entire field at the was full with more than 70 vendors!

Volunteers were working hard parking cars, cooking, running the raffle table, communicating at the capital campaign table, being a Voice at the Tyson Table, logging in pumpkins and apple pies for the contests, handling the bake sale tables and doing whatever else was necessary to make the day a great success!

When we were able to step back for a moment and just take it all in, we were all filled with gratitude and joy at what we saw. There were cars lined up to get in and the field filled with supporters, it was amazing! Some of us just wanted to scream “We did it!" We pulled together as a team and worked in unison all with one goal in mind, to help the Animals who need us today and who will need us tomorrow!

This year's Harvest Fest raised more than $6,000.00! It was an event where so many volunteers joined in – it was truly a family day!

A special thank you to all the volunteers, the vendors, the rescues, DJ Buddah, Goldmark Credit Union, Paw Prints Photography, Bekah Gilmore and her horse Blink, Capron Park Zoo Mobile, Mayor Dumas, Double ACS, The Sun Chronicle, all the people and organizations who donated and to all our dedicated supporters!

Thank you for helping us help them!
